New Look for ClinicalTrials.gov

In September 2007, NLM's ClinicalTrials.gov launched a new web interface http://ClinicalTrials.gov/beta , which represents the first significant change to the interface since February 2000. A live link to the beta site (http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/home) is available from the clinicaltrials.gov site. The new interface will run in parallel with the previous version, and after appropriate testing, the new user interface will permanently replace the previous version, approximately two to four weeks after launch.

A Technical Bulletin article describing the features and improvements included in the new interface is available at: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/pubs/techbull/so07/so07_clinical_trials.html. To summarize, the new features include the ability to highlight search terms, more display options, and additional capabilities for viewing studies and search results by topic. Also, improvements were made to "Advanced Search" mode and the display by location on the world map.

ClinicalTrials.gov is the NLM(r)-developed Web-based registry of clinical research studies. It provides patients, clinicians, researchers, and members of the general public with access to information about interventional and observational studies including clinical trials of drugs, devices and other interventions. As of August 2007, ClinicalTrials.gov contained over 44,000 clinical research studies in all fifty states and in 150 countries.
